Mike Horne has over 15 years of experience in human resources leadership and management. He began his career with the National Labor Relations Board and left in 2005 to become the Senior Director, Human Resources at Brocade. From there, he moved to Genentech and led the organization development team for the Roche Group. He also wrote two books on human resources, "The Great Place to Work books for Leaders" and "The Leader's Guide to optimize employee engagement."Since his move to Genentech, Mike has successfully increased employee engagement, set baseline net promoter scores for all organizational functions, and achieved four acquisitions and integrations in a one-year period. He has also successfully communicated improved functions, processes, and procedures throughout the company—ensuring complete understanding throughout staff.

Mike Horne's education and work readiness background is comprehensive and varied. With a Ph.D. in Human and Organization Development from Fielding Graduate University, Mike has dedicated his career to helping organizations grow and succeed. In addition to his work at American University as a human resources development educator, from 2017-present Mike is a guest lecturer at the School of Public Affairs at American University.
