Her research focuses on data analysis and machine learning.Georgiev's educational background and work readiness inspired her to become a computer scientist. Georgiev majored in physics at Ithaca College and then completed a degree in computer science at Temple University. Georgiev's experiences as a student and teacher led her to develop an interest in computer science andystems. Georgiev began her academic career as a research associate at the MIT Media Lab before moving to the University of Utah in 2016. There, she became a postdoc in the department of computer and information sciences. These experiences have taught Georgiev how to develop and analyze data, as well as how to use machine learning to improve efficiency and decision-making.Georgiev's research has led her to the Discovery Awards, a prestigious award bestowed by the ACM. She has also been a co-winner of the IEEE International Conference on Computer Systems (ICCS), a major international conference on the subject of computer systems. Georgiev is also a member of the American Philosophical Society and the United Mexican States National Academy of Sciences.
