MyBoom

myBoom provides a platform that acts as an intermediary for employers and students, or 'young professionals' as we refer to them at myBoom. With myBoom, project-based hiring allow businesses to engage highly skilled student workers for low cost and provides an effective means to assess the suitability of the student as a future full-time employee. In simple terms, businesses can either search our platform for students based on their specific requirements or post their requirements as a job opening available for students to apply. myBoom presents students with an effective means to cross the chasm from being viewed as an inexperienced student to being viewed as a skilled young professional suitable for future employment. Students can showcase themselves to prospective employers and constantly build their profile as they utilise the services of the platform, i.e. job completion, feedback etc. The myBoom platform currently consists of one database architecture that will serve both the online website based platform and the smartphone application version of the platform. For the moment, our service is entirely manual while we wait for our IT platform to be completed. The database architecture has been fully developed and rigorously tested; the remainder of the development is underway whereby we expect our web based application to be completed in early September 2014.
