Mission The mission of the Hall County Sheriffâs Office is to preserve a safe environment for all the populace, and to serve the people in all components of the civil and criminal justice systems by effectively, efficiently and fairly enforcing law. Hall County is located in central Nebraska. It covers 550 square miles and has a population of 58,814. The county seat is Grand Island. Other villages within Hall County include: Alda, Cairo, Doniphan and Wood River. The Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Grand Island Police Department are located at a shared location, The Law Enforcement Center constructed in 2008. The Sheriff's Office responds to calls 24 hours a day. The Sheriff holds an elected office, which is voted on by the citizens of the county. The Sheriff is elected to a four year term and he or she may serve additional terms if re-elected by the citizens.
