About Center for Public Safety Excellence

CPSE is the not-for-profit organization that accredits fire/rescue departments (Commission on Fire Accreditation International), provides professional designations for fire/rescue officers (Commission on Professional Credentialing) and provides technical and facilitation services for fire departments to help them develop strategic plans and analyze local community risks and hazards (Technical Advisor Program).

Today, there are over 200 Accredited Agencies, representing both municipal fire departments and Department of Defense fire agencies and almost 2,100 fire officers who have achieved professional designations as Chief Fire Officer, Chief Training Officer, Chief EMS Officer, Fire Marshal and Fire Officer.
