Launched in 1950 at Kent State University as a student operation, WKSU is now a fully-professional, NPR affiliate and public media company that has been nationally recognized for excellence. Broadcasting primarily at 89.7, the station's five towers and two sub-signals reach 22 Northeast Ohio counties and part of Western Pennsylvania. WKSU's program schedule focuses on public radio news and information during the day and classical music at night, with public radio entertainment and education programs on weekends. The station also produces Folk Alley content, including 24-hour streaming folk, roots and Americana music at FolkAlley.com. WKSU and Folk Alley are non-profit, member-supported media organizations.
