What is Project Oracle?
Project Oracle is a Children & Youth Evidence Hub that aims to improve chances for children and young people in London. It seeks to achieve this objective by supporting charitable organisations evaluate their projects, and by creating a source of independently assessed and evaluated projects: a Children & Youth Evidence Hub. The purpose of which is to improve the chances of children & young people in the capital by supporting services to improve their delivery, and informing decision-making in the funding process.
Why is evaluation important?
Evaluation is important because it allows youth organisations to determine whether their projects are achieving their intended positive outcomes for young people. Evaluation can also highlight where projects are less successful, so projects can be re-designed to ensure that they more efficiently and effectively achieve their intended outcomes.
How does it work?
Project Oracle seeks to support charitable youth organisations develop rigorous evaluation systems and reliable evidence bases for their projects. It does not assess the quality of projects as such, but rather the quality of the evaluations of these projects. Project Oracle’s unique approach involves the integration of rigorous academic approaches to evaluation with considerations of what is practical for community-based organisations working with minimal resources.
