About NotOnMap
Founded in 2014, NotOnMap is a social initiative, handcrafted in India to develop a sustainable ecosystem for the marginalized, indigenous communities across rural India by connecting them to travelers and providing them their due share of travel economy. It protects local culture and heritage by generating livelihood for locals and minimizing unorganized migration of native Indian communities. With a motto to ‘Live Like Local’, NotOnMap curates unique and authentic experiences at offbeat locations to encourage a more impactful method of traveling while promoting deep-rooted cultural exchange between the traveller and the host family or village.
Providing travelers with more than just a destination to stay, NotOnMap enables enriching, authentic experiences as both sides learn from each other through planned activities and workshops. An advocate of the local communities, the startup provides them with 80% of the revenue generated along with the database of all travelers for future communications. It is currently present in 80+ locations across Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Goa, Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
