Disability Advocacy NSW provides advocacy support for people with all types of disability in NSW Australia.
DA was established with the amalgamation of Disability Advocacy Service Hunter (DASH) and Advocacy Northwest (ANW). After a number of years working together, both services believed that they could provide a better service to more people with a disability by joining forces. Combined the services had 35 plus years of experience in advocating for people with a disability. The Disability Information and Advocacy Service (DIAS) in Bathurst joined Disability Advocacy NSW to form our new Central West Region.
DA operates in the regional and rural areas of the Hunter, Mid North Coast, Central West, Nepean-Blue Mountains, Central Coast and New England, Western NSW and Far West regions of New South Wales, Australia. The service geographicly covers around two thirds of NSW. ALA has offices in Newcastle, Paramatta/Windsor, Port Macquarie, Tamworth, Armidale, Coffs Harbour, Taree, Dubbo, Broken Hill, Bathurst and Armidale.
The service is funded to provide independent advocacy by Commonwealth Department of Social Services (DSS) and NSW Department of Family and Community Services.
