About BlockStock
BlockStock is a Bitcoin promotion initiative that raises the awareness of bitcoin as a digital currency. This is achieved through a nine-day festival of events, activities, special offers, seminars and exhibitions interconnected with everyday high street businesses such as shops, pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes. BlockStock aims to drive bitcoin adoption amongst the non-Bitcoin community and to increase usage of bitcoin as a currency amongst Bitcoin enthusiasts. The ten-day festival takes place in Shoreditch in the London Borough of Hackney. Shoreditch has been chosen as it is known for its creativity, new events and initiatives and it is the home of Tech City (or Silicon Roundabout as it is often called). In addition, the organisers are passionate about the area and would like to support and promote local businesses. During BlockStock, it is anticipated that more than 4000 people will descend onto Shoreditch to spend bitcoins at the various merchants in the area.
