The Arusha Project is a multi-national organization with headquarters in Tanzania. The goal is to promote gender equality and sexual health in East Africa through grant-making and competitive interest loans. Collectively, it provide a spectrum of care for more than 800 families affected by HIV/AIDS, from drop-in and case management for street children in urban Arusha to vocational training for Female Genital Cutters in Monduli Juu, a rural Maasai village.
The Arusha Project also administers a microcredit program, which was developed for women who are HIV-positive or primary caregivers of individuals who are living with HIV/AIDs. This loan distribution program provides relief to women who struggle to afford school fees, meals and life-extending medication. The program also works to establish credit and teach important financial and business management skills.
