About Carter Mcnaught

Carter McNaught is a dedicated Water Resources Engineer at WSP in Canada, where he leverages his extensive expertise in hydrology and river engineering to address complex water resource challenges. With a strong focus on fluvial hazard mitigation, Carter plays a pivotal role in assessing and managing risks associated with flooding, bank erosion, scour, and sediment transport processes. His work is particularly impactful in natural river systems, where he applies his in-depth understanding of fluvial processes to develop sustainable solutions that balance ecological health with infrastructure needs.

One of Carter's key projects involves conducting hydrologic assessments across diverse river systems and climates, including data-sparse northern regions. His ability to estimate the impacts of climate change on hydrological patterns is crucial for developing adaptive strategies that safeguard communities and ecosystems alike. By utilizing advanced tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and hydrotechnical design software, he designs effective river bank stabilization measures and aquatic habitat features that enhance resilience against environmental changes.

Carter's project management skills are complemented by his proficiency in technical drawing and fieldwork, enabling him to coordinate multidisciplinary teams effectively. His expertise in hydraulics and software applications like InfoWater and InfoSewer further enhances his capability to deliver comprehensive solutions. As a forward-thinking engineer, Carter is committed to fostering collaboration among stakeholders to ensure that water resource management strategies are both innovative and sustainable, ultimately contributing to the long-term health of Canada's waterways.
