Under Jacobs’ leadership, Turner Digital experienced revenue growth of over 5x, and was routinely recognized for fielding one of the top-rated and most well respected sales organizations in the marketplace.
Jacobs served in a variety of leadership positions at Turner, playing key roles in several acquisitions, strategic investments, product launches and rights deals that repositioned Turner as a digital leader. These deals included Turner’s acquisition of Bleacher Report, a leading sports pure play built on a next generation publishing platform; and an investment in Funny or Die, becoming partners with CAA, Sequoia Capital, and Gary Sanchez Productions. In digital rights, Jacobs played an integral role in securing the partnership with NCAA.com, including March Madness Live, in conjunction with Turner Broadcasting Inc.’s partnership with CBS Sports. Jacobs launched The Turner Network, a consortium of Turner online destinations that include news, finance, entertainment, sports, kids and young adult websites. During his tenure, Turner negotiated many other major rights deals and ad sales agreements with entities including NCAA (March Madness), Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, NASCAR, NBA, PGA Tour, PGA, Team Coco, and Time Inc. Additional responsibilities included oversight of advertising sales and business development for Reuters.com, Times Square Squared (an Out-Of-Home digital signage, strategic alliance between The Reuters Sign and The NASDAQ Tower in Times Square, New York), and emerging technologies such as Reuters Mobile and Interactive Television.
On the B2B side, Jacobs was responsible for overseeing sales of Reuters wire services in the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Reuters media business distributed text, photography, and video content, as well as financial and market data systems and databases, to publishers and broadcasters throughout the Americas.
In 2003, Mr. Jacobs served on the management team that was responsible for re-launching Reuters.com as an advertising-supported business where he served as its Vice President of Advertising Sales and Marketing. This initiative effectively introduced Reuters as a consumer-facing brand for the first time in its 158 year history.
