I am a computer science and biomedical informatics student at Stanford focused on solving important problems in healthcare.
Research Assistant @ - Working with Professor Andrew Ng to explore possibilities for using artificial intelligence to solve problems in healthcare From April 2015 to Present (6 months) Stanford UniversitySoftware Engineer Intern @ - Worked with oncology team to identify weaknesses in manual workflow used to review correctness of algorithms that describe patient therapy in terms of sequential lines of therapy
- Implemented a new system using Flask, AngularJS, Highcharts and PostgreSQL allowing quicker review, tighter feedback loops, and more documentation of process, along with a better user interface
- Created export process in ETL framework that loads new data from the algorithms into PostgreSQL, allowing oncology team to immediately view visualizations and review correctness From June 2015 to August 2015 (3 months) Greater New York City AreaResearch Assistant @ - Worked under Professor Gill Bejerano on developing statistical models that examine the relationship between human disease and mutational load in biological pathways
- Assisted with quality control and cleanup of new human genomics datasets
- Implemented and tested a new family-based burden test to discover biological pathways that may lead to disease after an accumulation of mutations (see Transmission Disequilibrium Test project) From June 2014 to June 2015 (1 year 1 month) Stanford UniversitySoftware Engineer Intern @ - Designed and wireframed a new feature allowing contributors to communicate with Crowdflower support team on the Crowdflower platform, without needing to leave and enter a support forum
- Implemented both features in Ruby on Rails and jQuery. As of October 2013, this work was being used by a crowd of 5 million contributors who were reporting increased worker satisfaction and more time spent on Crowdflower platform.
- Conducted user testing with a focus group of crowd contributors From June 2013 to September 2013 (4 months) San Francisco Bay Area
