I am a software developer, rapid-prototyper, and pro hackathonner. I don't just live in the future, I build the future.
I constantly compete in and often win hackathons, have worked at companies as notable as Microsoft and Adobe, took my own startup through Techstars Boulder, and regularly build new projects for fun and profit. My work often involves web scraping, data mining, and wearable computing.
I have over a decade of experience on the Microsoft stack, plus I'm increasingly building on NodeJS and linux. I'm at home with backend development in ASP.NET and NodeJS as well as frontend development with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS/LESS. I have deep experience with web-scale data mining (including API's of all major US social networks), Voice-over-IP (Asterisk, Twilio, and Tropo), and internet marketing (with an eCommerce background). I also have built projects involving wearable computing (mainly Google Glass), NFC and RFID (including low-level hardware), and a variety of other interesting technologies. I am a bit obsessed with my Google Glass: in addition to building the premier Teleprompter for Google Glass, I post my extreme Glass videos at http://glasshole.io.
My creations have won plenty of awards (from companies such as Twilio, Microsoft, Yahoo, Vodafone, Stanford, TechStars), and I love solving problems through code.
On the side I volunteer at the historic Great Star theater in San Francisco's Chinatown, assisting in front-of-house management, marketing, restorations of the flyloft and curtain rigging, and occasionally even helping out backstage during shows. We host many circuses, magic shows, music concerts, and cabaret performances. I love helping put on awesome events and contributing to people having a great evening.

Find out more at https://standout.adobe.com From September 2015 to Present (4 months) Chronic Inventor @ I make a living from winning hackathons and doing freelance development. I travel the country competing in (and often winning) hackathons, which are competitions where people/teams create prototype websites, apps, or other projects in 24 hours and then present to judges. I have competed in well over 30 hackathons, winning more than 15. I also do freelance development, with clients including Ark (social data mining platform), FacialNetwork (NameTag face recognition for Google Glass and CreepShield face recognition for sex offenders), and Karmaloop (urban clothing ecommerce). From January 2012 to Present (4 years) Full-Stack Engineer @ One of the first 10 engineers at this groundbreaking developer-centric job marketplace. As a full-stack engineer I coded Ruby on Rails, HAML, and SASS, with testing in RSpec and Capybara. In addition to working on the main Hired.com web app, I also worked with the marketing team to build out analytics to track our complex inbound marketing and conversion pipeline. From September 2014 to April 2015 (8 months) Cofounder & CTO @ Created the data mining backend for Augur which spidered many web services to find a lot of information about any person. This mined data was combined with ML to automatically personalize websites, optimizing the experience for each user in order to maximize conversions. Techstars Boulder 2013 From December 2012 to September 2013 (10 months) Lead R&D @ Created prototypes for many interesting projects at this innovative Atlanta e-commerce company, whose primary property is NationalBuilderSupply.com. From August 2011 to February 2012 (7 months) Greater Atlanta AreaSoftware Development Engineer on Windows Phone @ Developer for Windows Phone on the Application Platform team, initially as an intern and then as a full-time SDE.
Projects included:
- Implemented various Silverlight controls for the Windows Phone 7 Developer SDK.
- Created a developer library for phone Push Notifications, allowing developers for Windows Phone 7 to more easily push updates to the phone. Key technologies included C# and Silverlight for Windows Phone 7, as well as Windows Azure for the server-side components.
- Added push notifications to the official Microsoft Stocks and Weather applications for Windows Phone 7.
- Developed a prize-winning RSS Reader application for Windows Phone 7 for an intern app development competition. See it in action at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOC8d7Ik-3M. From May 2010 to February 2011 (10 months) Live Mesh Software Development Engineer Intern @ Live Mesh (now called SkyDrive) is a platform for application, data, and file synchronization. During my internship, I implemented a low-level part of the synchronization system that handled hashing and change detection on disk with minimal memory footprint and high performance. From May 2009 to August 2009 (4 months) Software Engineer @ I worked on the AT&T-Yahoo! Convergence Development Team, developing such things as IPTV
interfaces and web service gateways. My primary project was a web-based channel guide for U-verse that allowed users to schedule programs to record on their home DVR's. Building an advanced AJAX web app that had to work flawlessly on IE6 was quite a challenge. Prior to joining full-time, I interned with the Connected Life Mobile team, building Yahoo's Mobile Blueprint PHP SDK. From May 2008 to April 2009 (1 year) Sharepoint Developer @ I used my ASP.NET and SharePoint expertise to create internal and external web applications for some of B2B's largest clients, including Mohawk Flooring.
