Software Developer @ I spend most of my time migrating data, cleaning data, processing data, and building scalable applications to power back-end analytics. The goal is to develop efficient solutions that allow concurrent access to data from multiple sources that may be stored across varied platforms, systems, and file formats. I also spend time thinking of new ways to generate insights from noisy data (e.g., by developing Spark applications) and rebuilding legacy data pipelines in Hadoop.
In a nutshell: Fun with data! And lots of dates with Scala (we're going steady now). Plus loads of math! The best thing about my job is being able to justify how much time I spend thinking about math problems. Create and maintain ETL processes used to migrate data and generate analytics.
Design multidimensional OLAP cubes to support client business intelligence needs.
Combine stored procedures and custom Java classes with eQ's out of the box solutions to implement business logic.
Write scripts as needed to facilitate migrations and production of custom BI reports to client specifications.
Provide testing, development, deployment, and production support in all manners required. From May 2015 to July 2015 (3 months) Research Programmer @ Currently working with Professor Lloyd-Smith and lab members on various projects in mathematical and computational epidemiology.
