💼 Past Experience

Prateek Tandon has experience as both a senior software engineer at Roswell Biotechnologies, a seniorBioinformatics Scientist at Bionano Genomics, Inc., and a data science consultant at University of California, San Francisco, where he worked with Neuroimaging Clinicians to identify impactful applications of Deep Learning/GPU approaches to medical imaging, developed approaches to improve analysis of fMRI images for neuroscience of pain with ProfIrina Strigo's lab and UCSD Veterans' Affairs (VA), applied both classical machine learning approaches (e.g. MDS, SVM, PCA, multi-voxel pattern analysis) and developed newer Deep Learning approaches (e.g. ConvNets, LSTMs) on GPUs in TensorFlow/Caffe, and advocated for engineers/technologists to help aid VA initiatives and improve the health care system.

🎓 Education

Prateek Tandon's background and work readiness is based on his past education and experience in the Robotics and Machine Learning areas. His Postdoc at UC San Diego, where he focused on Psychiatric Genetics and Machine Learning, prepared him well to move on to his PhD at Carnegie Mellon University, where he focused on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. He hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California San Diego in 2010. In between, he also completed a retrospective learning project at Coursera in 2012-2014.His current work readiness is based on his past education and experience in the Robotics and Machine Learning areas. He is currently a Postdoc at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Albany, New York, focused on Fast Retrospective Learning, which prepares him well for his upcoming doctoral degree in Robotics and Machine Learning. He is also an active participant in the Challenge2015 research paper competition and is currently working on a paper related to this competition.

Prateek Tandon has a background in information technology and cancer research. After working on three software projects related to cancer, he has developed experience in data science, engineering, and human-computer interaction. Tandon's most recent project was building an intelligent backpack radiation system that can be controlled by an Android phone. Tandon is also a PhD researcher at CMU Auton Lab, and has worked on a variety of projects related to mobile radiation sensing and data analysis.
