I help companies use weather and climate "big data" to create and execute weather strategies that lead to more effective and profitable business outcomes.
As one of the leading experts in the country on the intersection of weather and consumer behavior, I've helped business leaders in many of the largest corporations in North America and Europe use weather and climate intelligence to increase sales and maximize profits.
I'm a regularly featured expert on the The Weather Channel and CNBC, and can be read in dozens of national media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, USA Today and The New York Times.
Prior to joining the private sector in 1997 I served as a Meteorologist in the United States Air Force.

Vice President, Weather Analytics @ The Weather Company (TWC, formerly The Weather Channel Companies) is "Where the World Gets its Weather"
I was recruited / hired by TWC in 2011 to lead the development and creation of weather-based analytical products that enable companies to discover, understand, forecast and execute business strategies based on the effect of weather on consumer demand and sentiment.
That effort led to the development of TWC's WeatherFX suite of Ad Technology and Supply Chain products -- these strategic initiatives are now major global growth areas of the company. From August 2011 to Present (4 years 3 months) Greater New York City AreaSenior VP, Business Solutions, Atmospheric and Environmental Research (AER) @ I was hired following AER's acquisition by Verisk Analytics to lead the development of a new commercial weather risk business that leveraged synergies between the scientific capabilities within AER and the commercial data and analytic capabilities within the Verisk family of companies.
Created the strategy, hired an amazing team and oversaw the launch of what ultimately became Verisk Climate -- a large and growing division within Verisk.

We provide weather-marketing consulting, campaign development, content creation/production, weather analytics, and media services for large retailers, consumer packaged goods manufacturers, travel and entertainment firms, and media companies in the US and Canada. From October 2008 to July 2009 (10 months) Chief Strategy Officer @ Hired by the founder / CEO of this VC-backed company to help build out a financial, information and advertising market for the weather.
Products and services enable companies to hedge their weather risk; investors to anticipate its impact on portfolios; and agencies and advertisers to optimize planning and run weather-protected promotions.
Strong tailwind going into 2008, raised a second round of funding ($7M), hired a great staff and moved into new space in Manhattan. Unfortunately, we hadn't reached take-off velocity prior to the crash of the economy in fall of 2008 -- it was a non-recoverable set back.
