💼 Past Experience

2006-2011: Architect at Google2006-2011: Architect at Google We called Google “the go-to website for ideas,”. I helped design and implement the overwhelming majority of Google’s products, from its online search conduit, Allo, to its Sheets email service and its Earth Catalog, the world’s first online encyclopedia. There was a lot of work to be done and a lot of new challenges to overcome. But the team I was a part of was excited about what we were doing, and we were able to take advantage of some of the innovative technology-including Google’s Wave-that was coming out of Google then.2001-2002: Assistant Professor of Computing at Johns Hopkins2001-2002: Assistant Professor of Computing at Johns Hopkins I taught at Johns Hopkins from 2001-2002 and developed interactive systems and wrote a few programming languages. My research interests are machine learning, software design and engineering, and the use of interactive systems in R&D.

Omar Gabr's educational background is a Bachelor of Engineering, Computer and Communications Engineering from Cairo University. He has had components of internship and development work in companies such as Google, Yahoo! and Facebook. Omar is currently a student at Y Combinator, where he is an engineering intern.
