Born and raised in Milan, Italy, Nicola Piro moved to London in 2001 to start his career with The Bank of England. At The Bank of England, he worked in areas including treasury, risk management and treasury functions including treasury off SEA. Nicola Piro left The Bank of England in 2006 to join HSBC where he was promoted to Head of Treasury and subsequently Head of TreasuryGroup. At HSBC, Nicola Piro played a key role in expanding HSBC's treasury functions to include treasury advice and sales and risk management. In this role, Nicola Piro led a team of employees who worked to deliver on HSBC's 2025 business vision, including developing new treasury strategies and moving HSBC into the REM public cloud treasury platform. Nicola Piro alsoahonned a number of significant external engagements, including a speech at the London Financial Services Forum and a presentation at the European Banking Federation. Nicola Piro was also a visiting faculty at the London School of Economics. In his time at HSBC, Nicola Piro was responsible for 16 UK treasury appointments and supervised over 190 employees. Nicola Piro's tenure at HSBC came to an end in November 2018. He will now become the Chief Operating Officer at a leading European private bank.
