undisputedly educated from an early age, Nancy Tye-murray's education gave her the tools she needs to workdays and weekends. After graduating from high school, Tye-murray spent a year studying communication sciences and disorders at the University of Iowa, where she received her Doctor of Philosophy in 1984. After completing her dissertation, Tye-murray returned to St. Louis to begin her career as an audiologist. Three years later, she moved to Iowa to work as an audiologist at the University of Iowa, and then at the North Iowa Deaf School before joined the staff at Washington University in St. Louis in 1999.Working as a speech therapist, ESL teacher, and English tutor, Nancy has learned that while having a well-rounded education is important, it is also essential to have the personal qualities necessary to be successful in the workplace. She knows that her skills and experiences as a educator are transferable to other settings, and that her education and experience will count for a great deal in her future career.Just as important as having a well-rounded education is having the skills to use that education to its fullest potential in the workplace. Nancy has learned that it is very important to be able to thinkcritically and problem-solve problems. She also knows that the best way to learn is by doing, and that practicing her skills on a regular basis will help her sharpen her skills and develop her debating and critical thinking skills.Nancy's drive to learn and grow is clear in her work ethic, as she always looks to improve her skills and knowledge in order to become the best she can be.
