After strong evidence-based studies in the industry of writing and editing,—Studies that have shown that writing can have powerful and measurable effects on businesses, increase employee productivity, and even Career Development,—Nakia Thomas felt that she had to be a part of the writing and editing world. Early on, she decided that she wanted to be a writer; and, so, she took a four-year Literature degree at the University of Miami, majoring in English. While at UM, she discovered the creative side of the writing world and soon found herself working as a ghostwriter, Diplomate for a Creative Writing program, and former bookseller. At the time, she was living in a city that was full of writing talent. After some publicizing of her endeavors, she set up her own business, writing and editing clients located in Miami and other major cities. She quickly realized that she could not do it all alone, so she founded WriteThoughts.us, which today employs over 100 people. In spite of the ever-changing publishing landscape, her overriding goal has always been making sure that her clients are happy and that their writing experiences are amazing. She knows that great writing comes from a great author, and she has been blessed with the ability to work with some of the best and brightest in the industry. Her clients span a wide variety of industries, including publishing, book design, web publishing, and even advertising. Nakia Thomas is a descendent of slaves who were brought to America as children. She grew up in the African American community of Cleveland, Ohio. As a teenager, she volunteered at a poor school and then went on to earn her college degree in English Literature at University of Detroit. Afterward, she worked as a copywriter before becoming a full-time writer.Nakia Thomas has been writing and editing books since she was a young woman. She was an Editor-in-Chief at several online publications before starting her own company in 2009. WriteThoughts.us was created as a way to give voice to those who have been left out of the publishing world. She was the company's first owner and spent the majority of her time focused on the company's core values: giving back to the community, being respectful to their authors, and feeling content with the work they produce.Since its creation, WriteThoughts.us has had a hand in hundreds of published titles and has reached more than 10,000 people through social media and directly through their authors.
