He has worked experience in both the private and public sector.Alshaaer has a background in civil engineering, safety, and environmental management from universities such as Cairo’s Al-Azhar University and Riyadh’s Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef University. Alshaaer started his career in 1982 as a senior engineer at Al-Hag al-Jumaa’ah (Saudi Aramco), rising through the ranks to become a health and safety consultant. In 1992, he moved to TUV Nord, where he had responsibility for supervising engineering projects for the company’s subsidiaries. From 2006 to 2010, he served as a senior engineer at Agility, where he was responsible for overseeing many of the company’s safety and engineering projects.Since 1994, Alshaaer has been an auditor with the independent Auditing and Certification Institute (ICEA), a national accreditation body for engineering, construction, and technical audit courses. In 1998, he was appointed as an inspector with the French Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA), where he worked for three years. From 2005 to 2007, he served as the deputy inspector for environment with the Italian environmental authority, Tecnologia sostenibile, in Milan.Alshaaer joined TÜV Nordic in September 2006 as a senior engineer. His responsibilities included audits and inspections of TUV Nord company subsidiaries, as well as working with the company’s customer and partners. He has also been responsible for developing and leading TUV Nord’s safety policy.Since working at TUV Nord, Alshaaer has also worked with ACEA and the CE MARKUS program. In these positions, he provided expert advice to the member states of the European Union on safety and environment-related issues.Since September 2010, Alshaaer has been a member of the management team of Emirates Classification Society. He is responsible for the organization and management of the society’s core businesses, including the development and execution of its missions and programmes, as well as providing leadership and management skills to its current and future deputies.Alshaaer has a Master’s degree in Water and Wastewater engineering from Cairo’s Al-Azhar University and a B.S. in civil engineering from Riyadh’s Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef University.
