I am passionate about packaging. Every day I am awarded the opportunity to solve new problems in efforts of reducing waste to create a more sustainable world. I welcome new challenges, approach every obstacle with a positive attitude, and drive to succeed no matter how much resistance I am met with. I approach packaging with enthusiasm and confidence to assure customers that we will find a solution.
I am a highly motivated self starter that enjoys innovating in a team environment. When you have the right people, working together toward a common goal; anything is possible.
Manager, Package and Unit Load Testing and Optimization @ Manage PCA's Package and Unit load Testing Lab at the Technical and Development Center. There we provide guidance in transit testing, and package optimization to both internal (Sales/Design/Production/Quality), and external customers. We provide data and analysis with high integrity, communicating results with clear, concise, written reports. With our industry-leading turnaround times, we help keep projects on schedule.
Additionally, I support PCA's Chain of Custody and Fiber Sourcing programs--providing training for thousands of employees, and supporting our box plants on annual audits. From April 2014 to Present (1 year 7 months) Mundelein, ILInterim Manager, Package & Unit Load Testing Lab @ From August 2013 to March 2014 (8 months) Mundelein, ILPackaging Engineer @ Providing an array of package engineering, development, and testing services to PCA's broad customer base. Much of my focus as an engineer is identifying cost savings via SKU reduction, use of generic boxes, and performance-based ("just right") packaging. Optimizing packaging as a system to create synergies and overall better performance in stacking, and distribution.
Reducing risk and increasing assurance through pre-shipment testing, then providing guidance for customers to monitor their shipments, ultimately used to continuously improve their packaging. From December 2012 to August 2013 (9 months) Mundelein, ILIndependent Contractor @ As a Contractor with PCA they began to utilize me as an "athlete." They made good use of my ability to jump into any situation with enthusiasm to drive projects forward.
Being a self starter, and needing little direction to be a strong contributor--I got to "dive deep" on a few customer projects where I was developing both qualitative evaluations, and quantitative test methods.
While in the Package Testing Lab, I improved many processes. Streamlining the writing of test protocols by automating the process with Microsoft Excel. Improved organization to reduce clutter, and confusion for projects involving multiple technicians. From December 2011 to November 2012 (1 year) Mundelein, ILCo-op @ As a co-op I focused much of my time in developing a deep understand of corrugated as it pertained to performance in the distribution environment. I took on research projects that looked deeper into our methodologies in performing box compression testing, and what factors play a role in variation that could alter business decisions.
I executed TAPPI test methods for combined board, and ISTA test procedures for transit testing. I also did A LOT of box compression testing. From May 2011 to December 2011 (8 months)
