Mark Waltrip has 24 years of experience as an engineer with Westgate Resorts. Waltrip has worked at the company since 1993, most recently as the Senior Manager of Business Systems. He is responsible for the project management, information technology and finance departments for 1200 person Government contract to build and refurbish the space launch infrastructure for the Eastern Test Range.Waltrip was born in 1977, and has a degree in engineering from Virginia Tech. He is a 25-year veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as a Nuclear Detection Agency scientific measurements technician from 1982 to 1988. From 1989 to 1999, Waltrip was a member of the United States Air Force Reserve.Waltrip's most recent position was as the COO at Westgate Resorts. Westgate Resorts is the world’s largest privately held timeshare company and one of the largest destination resort developers in the United States. The company has 12,000+ team members at 30 resorts and destinations located in a variety of high-destination tourism markets. Waltrip is responsible for the continued growth and evolution of the Westgate brand as the industry leader in experience-based, destination resorts.Throughout his career, Waltrip has been involved in a wide variety of projects. He has been project engineer for the construction and renovation of Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral AFS. In his previous positions, he has been responsible for the development and operation of all Westgate non-resort projects, including commercial office space, apartment complexes, and real estate land development.Waltrip enjoys playing music and is an accomplished musician. He has been a guest speaker at hospitality, real estate and leadership conferences across the country. He is the author of "Recipes for Success: A Cookbook with a Recipe for Life" and the new book, "Building a Culture of Success". Waltrip has more experience in Jet Black and McDonnell Douglas MD-10 passenger jets than in any other type of airplane. He has logged more than 2400 hours in Jet Black, McDonnell Douglas MD-10, Boeing 737, Airbus A320, and Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO) boat. Waltrip is also a qualifiedCаdre, skycrane and para-ski jumper.Waltrip has flown for both United Airlines and Delta Air Lines. He currently pilots for United Airlines. Waltrip has been a captain with United Airlines for more than 12 years and has logged over 120,000 flight hours in his career. As a senior nuclear arms control specialist, he was responsible for the defense of the national security infrastructure and secure the nation’s borders. His previous work also included work at the White House, at the Pentagon, and at the Board of Governors for the Manhattan Project. From January 1993 to March 1995, he worked as a Nuclear Weapons Inspector for the Inspectors General for the Atomic Energy Commission. From 1989-1991, he was a Professional Engineer in the Air Force.
