Upstream Process Development Manager - Gene Therapy at WuXi Advanced Therapies from January 2007 to November 2008 (1 year 11 months). Mark was responsible for developing and managing the upstream process for the company’s gene therapy products. at GSK from June 2001 to December 2002 (1 year 7 months). He was responsible for the cell culture and fermentation processes for RHB Fermentation. He also worked with Roche Diagnostics, Novartis, AstraZeneca, and Merck to develop and manage the vaccine and disease vectors production lines at Merck.

Semanick’s B.S. in Chemistry from Saint Francis University was awarded in 1997. After completing his undergraduate education, Semanick worked as a research chemist at Pfizer until his 2010 exit from the company. He hasheld a number of executive-level positions in five different companies spanning the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industry. Semanick’s largest role at these companies was as the Vice President of Research and Development for one of these companies. He also held a number of other leadership roles in the company, most notably as the Vice President of Marketing. In addition, Semanick has been a lecturer at Saint Francis University since 2007.Semanick has also been involved in a number of leadership roles in Rhode Island. He has been the President of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Chemical Society and has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Association of University Women.
