Loai Najjar is a graduate of the Massachusetts School of Engineering and Technology, where he earned his MS in Electric and Computer Engineering in 1982. He then pursued a graduate degree in Computer Engineering from San Jose State University in 1986. From 1986 to 1989, Loai Najjar worked as a systems engineer at the California Air Resources Board. Since 1989, Loai Najjar has been a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he teaches computer engineering and information science courses. In Fall 2009, Loai Najjar also took a two-year joint appointment as a professor of information science and engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
