Adjunct Faculty at College of the Canyons | Los Angeles, California, United States

About Levin Welch

Levin Welch serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at College of the Canyons, where he leverages his extensive academic background and research expertise to enrich the educational experience of his students. With a B.S. in Sociology from Boise State University and an M.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno, Levin brings a solid foundation in sociological theory and methodology to the classroom. His current research, which delves into the intersections of race, ethnicity, and social problems, informs his teaching in courses such as "Introduction to Sociology," "American Social Problems," and "Race and Ethnicity."

In addition to his primary teaching responsibilities, Levin plays a pivotal role in fostering academic success among high school students through specialized programs like Project Grad Los Angeles (PGLA) and Advanced College Enrollment (ACE). As a Sociology Instructor for these initiatives, he not only introduces students to critical sociological concepts but also empowers them to navigate the complexities of higher education. His involvement with the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) further highlights his commitment to student development, as he provides writing and sociology tutoring to underrepresented populations.

Levin’s skills in research, critical thinking, and academic advising are instrumental in creating an engaging learning environment. He encourages students to think critically about societal issues, equipping them with the analytical tools necessary for understanding and addressing the challenges facing contemporary society. As a Ronald E. McNair Scholar and a current Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, Riverside, Levin is dedicated to advancing sociological knowledge while inspiring the next generation of scholars and leaders.
