📖 Summary
At UEA I did alot of coursework involving computer games and game programming techniques. My highest mark was 100% for software development techniques, writing a Well Formed Formula compiler for Unix. Other areas i performed highly in were AI, and Graphics. I've taken part in Dare To Be Digital 2008, and was the sole programmer for Smile (Game Over Studios). I would love to finish my own Game Engine and get it out there for people interested in making their own games to use. I also have a great idea for a game which i want to make using my own engine.Senior Programmer @ From September 2014 to Present (1 year 4 months) Lead Programmer @ Currently working on PC, projects with UE4 for Epic Games. From October 2010 to August 2014 (3 years 11 months) Programmer @ MySapient is a small company based in Newcastle that focused on an online 3D social networking game, The Wonderverse. MySapient gave me real world experience in the games industry. Being in a small company gave me the advantage of being able to work on a wide variety of tasks including in-house tools, 3DS Max SDK, an economic Morph Target animation system, and Graphics algorithms like shadow mapping, faking HDR, and occlusion culling. I also created our simple vehicle physics system, which was based on constrained verlet integrators, and supported 2WD, 4WD and Hovering vehicles. Another exciting task I had was to build The Wonderverse's Chat System, which was graphically presented as morphable speech bubbles, and recognised keywords which we used to control emotes, and change the appearance of the speech bubbles. Working at MySapient was a pleasure, I enjoyed the close team relationship and the variety of work that I was assigned to. From March 2009 to July 2010 (1 year 5 months) Game Programmer @ Dare to be Digital is a video games development competition for talented students at Universities and Colleges of Art. Teams of 5 students, usually a mix of artists, programmers, and audio, assemble in a regional hosting centre for 10 weeks to develop a prototype video game. I competed as part of the team Game Over Studios as the sole programmer for the game Smile. I found that the project presented me with many challenges because Smile turned out to be the biggest project built with the DXStudio engine. This meant that I had to keep a close relationship with the DXStudio development team in order to work with them to iron out any major bugs in the engine that hampered the development of the game. I also found that I needed to be creative in the way that I was making the game in order to work around the engine problems. Dare gave me the opportunity to work in a high pressured environment, and to work closely in a team as well as individually. I thoroughly enjoyed the Dare to be Digital experience and felt that I learnt a lot; I would recommend it to anyone. From June 2008 to August 2008 (3 months) Technician Apprentice @ BAE Systems is a Large Multi-national company. The company is involved in developing and producing Military Defense systems. The site in Cowes on the Isle of Wight was primarily a Radar development, test, and production facility. With BAE Systems I followed an IEE accredited Modern Apprenticeship for four years. Of which, one year was full time college, two were full time on-site with one day a week at the IOW College and Southampton Solent Uni, and the final year was a full-time job in a specialist department programming radar test equipment in VHDL. Working at BAE helped me develop general self-management skills such as timekeeping and punctuality. I enjoyed the technical challenges that this occupation brought and relished in the abundance of knowledge available. From August 2001 to August 2005 (4 years 1 month) BSc, Computer Science @ University of East Anglia From 2005 to 2008 HNC, Electrical/Electronic Engineering @ Southampton Solent University From 2003 to 2004 NVQ 2, Electronics, Mechanics. @ Isle Of Wight College From 2001 to 2002 BTEC NC, Electrical/Electronic Engineering @ Isle Of Wight College From 2001 to 2002 Leigh Swift is skilled in: C++, OpenGL, DirectX, C, JavaScript, HLSL, GLSL, VHDL, 3D, ActionScript, Lua, C#, Java, Programming, Scripting
