Mission completed very successfully, with revenues and backlog increased from $500,000 to $8 million in seven months with 7.4 megawatts ground-mount solar projects awarded (four projects in Vermont and Delaware, one in Panama). • Lead solar photovoltaic construction company with initial team of 10, targeting ground-mount solar projects in North and South America. Reported to 50/50 joint venture partners Ellaktor Group (Greek construction company) and Libra Group, a New York based private equity firm in transportation, hospitality and energy sectors. • P&L responsibility for growing the U.S. business. Managed design, engineering, procurement and construction. Set strategic direction and lead pricing and business development efforts of company’s entrance into the U.S. market. Won first deal with ENEL Green Power North America for the group, which positioned GWB to later win a 40MW project in Chile with ENEL. Established surety bond program with highly rated insurance company for construction bonds and credit with various suppliers. From 2013 to 2013 (less than a year) Vice President, Solar Business Unit @ • Responsible for EDF RE’s U.S. solar business, including M&A, origination, solar program management, strategy, solar panel and balance of plant procurement, innovation, and distributed generation. Supported asset sales to project buyers and institutional investors. • Managed 17 person team developing and constructing 156 megawatts of photovoltaic projects in New York, California and Hawaii worth over $450million. Saved company ~$12million through improved procurement methods with EPC and inverter vendors. Part of Transactions Group Pricing Committee for solar M&A activity valuations and bids on solar project development assets. • Worked with solar resource assessment, engineering and construction, power marketing, and regional project development teams to originate, model and close utility scale and distributed generation solar PV projects. • Managed final project development and construction of the 1,300 acre, 143 megawatts Catalina Solar project in Kern County, CA, with a power purchase agreement arranged with SDG&E and approved by the California Public Utilities Commission in March 2012. Successfully bid for 24 megawatt solar project entered in mid-2012 California Renewable Auction Mechanism procurement. • Developed 46 megawatts early stage ground-mount solar projects under net metering agreements and SREC program for private companies and municipal utilities in Massachusetts. • Joined EDF Renewables to run solar business unit (SBU), reporting to the EVP level. EVP in charge of this area resigned. Firm was re-organized in October 2012 and SBU disbanded. From July 2011 to November 2012 (1 year 5 months) Greater San Diego AreaVice President, Project Finance and Business Development @ Responsible for business development and finance roles at Suntech Power as it established its start-up U.S. organization. Helped grow U.S. market share from zero to 20% in 3 years. • Business Development - Developed Suntech’s relationships with electric utilities, developers, private equity funds, venture capital investors, equipment suppliers and construction companies, resulting in over 180 megawatts solar module sales (~$500million). • Project Finance – Managed Suntech’s U.S. relationship with Chinese commercial and development banks (China Eximbank, China Development Bank), international banks, insurance companies, tax equity investors, the International Finance Corporation and World Bank group. • Gemini - As President, established Gemini Solar Development Company joint venture to develop large-scale solar projects in U.S. with MMA Renewable Ventures. Managed team of 20 engaged in bid preparation, EPC, PPA and ground lease contract negotiations, and financing for utility, government and commercial clients. Developed 34 megawatts Austin Energy single axis tracker solar project in Texas and won project over 14 other bidders. • M&A - Performed valuation and financial due diligence for $300million equity investments and mergers and acquisitions activities globally, including acquisition of EI Solutions, and various other funds and investments in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
