Through my educational background of large scale computer architectures and artificial intelligence, I developed a passion, and indeed expertise, in the complexity of dealing with and managing unstructured information. Prior to founding Ravn Systems, I have held commercial and technical roles with both major corporates and entrepreneurial ventures in the fields of supply chain optimization and unstructured information processing.
As an engineer, my passion has always been about technology and problem solving. I have always been intrigued by the ever-growing mountain of information and am resolved to build solutions which help us explore, discover and learn from it as best as we can.
Big Data is what we call it now, but the problem has been around for much longer. With Ravn Systems I have found the opportunity to build solutions that intelligently identify, categorise, search and establishe relationships between all types of knowledge assets, including people.
My specific remit is the design of the technical architecture of the Ravn product suite.
To achieve that, I have the privilege of leading a team of highly skilled techies.
I strongly believe that at Ravn Systems we are building the next generation information technology.
CTO and Co-Founder of Ravn Systems @ As the CTO of Ravn Systems, I have the mission to: define and evolve the R&D strategy, lead our team of high skilled technical people and keep our product portfolio development on the right track.
At the same time, I try to be as much hands-on as possible. Technology and IT innovation is still my great passion. From January 2010 to Present (6 years) London, United KingdomSales Engineer @ Joined Autonomy within the Pre-Sales team and gained extensive knowledge and insight into the Company's full spectrum of unique technologies, including pan-enterprise search, proactive Information Risk Management, information governance, eDiscovery, consolidated archiving, etc.
Successfully served as Technical Account Manager & Technical Design Authority for some of Autonomy's key accounts. From April 2007 to January 2010 (2 years 10 months) Research Engineer @ As one of the first members of the newly formed Knowledge Innovation Research Centre, played a key role in innovating in the field of:
- Data Mining: Extracting valuable knowledge out of data
- Knowledge Engineering: Formalising knowledge so it can be 're-used' (by man or machine)
- Order to Encashment Optimization: Building simulators and optimizers of our supply chain From January 2005 to April 2007 (2 years 4 months) System Engineer @ Upon graduation, joined the Software Development Team within one of the Product Research Centres of Arcelor.
Key tasks were Knowledge Infrastructure, Automation of tasks, Machine automation and Implementation of scientific models. From February 2002 to December 2004 (2 years 11 months)
Master, Artificial Intelligence @ University of Leuven From 2002 to 2004 Master, Engineering - Computer science @ Ghent University From 1997 to 2002 Jan Hoecke is skilled in: Enterprise Search, Artificial Intelligence, E-commerce, Information Retrieval, Consulting, Management, Pre-sales, Unstructured Data, Team Leadership, Enterprise Architecture, Software Development, Enterprise Content Management, Search, Information Architecture, Web Development
