Find the right partners at the management level, take a leading value-based solution to market and hire the right team. It doesn't have to be a calculus equation.
I am presently building infrastructure and a team for Syntasa, a Big Data Analytics company in the Washington, DC market. Operating large distributed data platforms utilizing open source technologies (Hadoop and its distributioon vendors - Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR) in the Marketing Analytics sector delivering real time customer feedback can now drive outcomes for clients. Integrating petabytes of marketing and web data to acquire and keep new customers is what Big Data has been promising but yet to deliver.
I also am advising various smaller ventures on growth strategies through sales/marketing/channel expertise along the Eastern US on a part time basis.
