From October 1998 to May 2007 (8 years 8 months) VP of Software Development, Personalization and Data Mining @ I oversaw the recovery of a sideways ERP implementation, initiated the profitable launch of the Overstock co-branded credit card and directed the analytics group to focus on upsell, cross-sell and customer experience. From April 2005 to December 2005 (9 months) Founder/CTO @ Chief Technology Officer at Redfin, the premier online real estate marketplace. From March 2004 to April 2005 (1 year 2 months) Software Manager, Customer Behavior Research @ Managed Customer Behavior Research (data mining) and site optimization organizations in Amazon.Com's world-class Personalization Department (originally "Amazon Research"). Recruited top computer scientists from around the world and deployed numerous profitable projects at Amazon.
Created and managed an 8TB customer-based data warehouse.
Over the course of my tenure here, our group increased Amazon's annual profits by over $40 million (~25% of US profit).
We created four software patents, and one internal and one external academic publication, including "The Impact of Website Performance on Conversion" which analyzed the correlation between site latency and revenue, reaching one of the seminal e-commerce infrastructure conclusions.
