Developing our solutions design capability is especially rewarding as we further exploit our skills and experience in this specialist and technical area. “Logistics” now occupies most of what we do as a business and this trend is set to continue. However optimisation of CitySprint’s traditional core strengths, significant ad hoc same day capability and network (which is also continuing to grow) is intrinsic to our success. Understanding where SameDay Courier compliments Logistics is essential and our most important USP. We are continually reviewing existing operations, cost/charge analysis and consolidation opportunities with the aim of reducing client charges whilst maintaining or improving service levels. From June 2010 to Present (5 years 7 months) General Manager, Regions @ In 2007 I took up the national role of General Manager, Regions. Reporting to the Managing Director I was at the forefront of driving through significant revenue growth, margin improvement and operational process change Key responsibilities and achievements Commercial and operational responsibility for CitySprint’s 28 Regional service centres Creation and implementation of “Deliver By Time” and “Return Journey” projects providing clients with full service commitment on all SameDay bookings whilst driving through network efficiency. Representing one of our most significant steps in improving productivity and EBITDA improvement. Platinum Account Directorship for 6 accounts Identification, development and implementation of new business sectors for CitySprint in SameDay Logistics: o Automotive Parts o Forensic Courier Services o Pharmacy Distribution From January 2007 to June 2010 (3 years 6 months) Regional Manager @ Originally joining Delta Air and Road Transport in 1997 (Later becoming CitySprint in 2000) Operational and, targeted, commercial responsibility for the seven service centres that made up Central Region. 27 staff and approximately 150 sub-contractors Central Region generated £5.5M revenues per annum. Additional responsibility for eight of National Accounts. Key responsibilities and achievements Commercial, operational and sales management - seven ServiceCentre managers and three Business Development Executives as direct reports. Full P & L responsibility Creation of a 24/7 Regional Out of Hours service within six weeks of the idea being born and budgets agreed. Successful roll-out of major national “Courier & Van” project, creating annual revenues of over £500k Implementation of 250 daily scheduled runs in remote areas of the UK with less than 4 weeks notice. Generating annual revenues of over £1M. 2005 CitySprint Annual Conference - Winner of the CitySprint Excellence Award From January 1997 to December 2006 (10 years) Depot Manager @ Red Star was the parcel carrier division of British Rail. Initially specialising in “Station to Station” parcel movements, it later moved into the timed overnight delivery business. Some say this was the reason for its downfall as during the early 1990’s Red Star started to make heavy losses forcing British Rail to sell the company for £1 to a management-buy-out team in early 1996. I left the company a few months later, suspecting it’s eventual demise, and after another buy-out by Lynx it finally ceased trading in 1998. Reporting to the Area Manager, I was responsible for overseeing the operation at Paddington & Euston with a combined headcount of 35 staff. Paddington was a 24hour depot Key responsibilities Operational responsibility for the two depots Ensuring road and rail transport timetables are maintained Health and safety and the development and implementation of safety and quality standards.
