Dan Doctoroff's work experience:Founder and CEO at Sidewalk LabsI am currently a Founder and CEO at Sidewalk Labs, a company whose mission is to improve life in cities for everyone through the application of technology to solve urban problems. As Founder and CEO, my focus has been on expanding our product line,team, and infrastructure to make Sidewalk Labs a world-class innovation institution.In my time at Google, I was responsible for various projects that dealt with issues like earthquake risks, garbage collection, and search engineoptimization. I alsodeveloped the first public transportation map of the world, and was a part of the team that created Google Street View. Additionally, I was a part of the team that built Google Buzz, which was the first major project to use machine learning to make communication more efficient.My experience at Oak Hill Capital Partners was instrumental in my experience at Bloomberg L.P. where I led the purchase of companies in a wide variety of industries, including information services, insurance, thrifts, cable television, hotels and leasing. I also founded NYC2012, the organization dedicated to bringing the Olympic Games to New York. At Bloomberg L.P., I was responsible for pursuing an ambitious investment strategy, including major enhancements to Bloomberg’s products, services and technology, launching new businesses, and major acquisitions.In my time at City Hall, I also led the creation of PlaNYC, a 127-point plan designed to make New York the first environmentally sustainable 21st century city. The plan focuses on every facet of New York’s physical environment – its transportation network, housing stock, land and park system, energy network, water supply and air quality – and sets the course for a 30% reduction in global warming emissions by 2030. I am also part of the team that is working on a project called carbon sequestration that would involve burying relevant amounts of CO2 underground in order to keep the earth’s climate livable for centuries to come.

Dan Doctoroff's educational background and work readiness are based on his past education and work experience. Doctoroff has a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from University of Chicago in 1981 and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Harvard College in 1976. Doctoroff has worked in a number of legal positions since his graduation from college. From 1981 to 1984, he was a law professor at the University of Chicago, where he taught law and public policy. From 1984 to 1989, he was deputy White House Counsel for the President of the United States. From 1989 to 1993, he was the President of one of the largest technology companies in the world, Microsoft. From 1993 to 1997, he was chairman of the board of directors of FreeBSD. Doctoroff is currently the founder and CEO of Open Technologies, a technology company. Doctoroff is considered to be a knowledgeable expert in the fields of business administration and technology. He is also considered to be a highly experienced leader, having successfully founded and led a technology company.
