I’m passionate about communicating within a company to help people be more efficient and do their jobs better—providing them ready access to the information they need and shielding them from barrages of unnecessary communications. I develop creative solutions to address the needs of both leadership and employees, then work well within across departments to implement and customize my solution to the needs of individuals and the various departments.
My background includes Fortune 500 experience with companies such as 3M and Humana. My background not only includes writing, editing, and communications planning, but also graphics and web development. I hold a Master’s degree in Business Communication and a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts.

At Humana, I observed that leaders were using frequent emails to communicate with their reports. Since people tend to stop what they’re doing to read emails, production was adversely affected. Using SharePoint, I developed a series of custom intranet portals. I asked the leaders to send me any non-urgent messages, and I would post them to the SharePoint site at the end of each day. That way, employees could see the messages all at once at the beginning of their day. I reduced the number of non-urgent emails by 90%, helped boost production, and gave employees quick and easy access to the information and work resources they needed. I loved working with the various departments, and was very proud to have made a difference in internal communications in our organization. Humana recognized my contributions by awarding me the Humana North Star Award, which recognizes internal best practices.

Intranet Communications Contractor @ I manage ACLU's nationwide SharePoint-based intranet (The Loop), and lead the transition to The Loop's redesign on the SharePoint 2013 platform. My responsibilities include consulting with internal leadership and outside technical vendors on content and functionality. I also lead development and migration efforts for The Loop’s redesign, training and advising over 40 content owners across the organization in anticipation of an August, 2015 rollout. From 2015 to Present (less than a year) Independent Communications Consultant specializing in SharePoint @ Work with small firms and individuals to create marketing communications plans and collateral pieces to grow their businesses. Design work includes: branding, logos, web site creation, and book editing. Assisted successful nationwide startup of Success and Leadership Dynamics by developing corporate identity, logo, slogan, and marketing/promotional materials. Developed branding presence for Geographic Investigations and the Directory of Retail Shopping Districts. From January 2000 to Present (16 years) Internal Communications Contractor @ I developed and executed online and social media content. I was also responsible for content management of ING Americas intranet using SharePoint. Content included executive communications, event communications, video scripting, corporate social responsibility, and business updates. From 2014 to 2014 (less than a year) Communications Consultant @ I partnered with the CEO in development and execution of Social Media Curriculum/Materials. My contributions also included writing, editing and designing corporate promotional materials. I helped edit and craft the CEO's copy so the message was effectively conveyed. Using WordPress, develop web/blogging presence. Design and write promotional/marketing materials. From 2012 to 2013 (1 year) Greater New York City AreaInternal Communications specializing in SharePoint @ Developed and managed nine custom enterprise communications portals, using Windows SharePoint Server. Site(s) drastically reduced the number of leader emails (and interruptions to production) and enhanced access to production resources/enterprise and department information. Designed, wrote and produced Desert Weekly, the online newsletter for staff.
