I used the following: - ASP.NET MVC 5 - ASP.NET Web API 2 - AngularJS, HTML5, Javascript, CSS3 - Fitbit REST API, Microsoft Band SDK - SQL Server - Microsoft Azure Developing, supporting, and showcasing apps for the PI System, a high-throughput time-series database. Oversaw, planned, and delivered a 24 hour Hackathon event. From December 2014 to Present (1 year) United StatesTechnical Support Engineer @ Configured SQL Server, ODBC, JDBC, and RESTful architectures for customer systems. Troubleshooted and improved customer source code in C#, VB.NET, VBA, SQL, Python. Used Wireshark, Fiddler, SysInternals, and Windbg to diagnose performance and security issues. Wrote customer-facing white papers and knowledge base articles. Resolved 1,000+ technical support cases. Top 5% among peers in case closure rate. From September 2013 to December 2014 (1 year 4 months) Ph.D. Candidate @ I developed computational models and simulations of nanoscale and biomolecular systems. I constructed algorithms using partial differential equations, statistical physics, and stochastic processes, publishing results in several high-profile journals. Tools I used included Python, MATLAB, and FORTRAN. I simulated fluid dynamics at nanoscales using the stochastic Navier-Stokes equations. Using this framework, I studied problems involving multiphase flow and self-assembly of biological molecules. I showed how the behavior of water molecules at nanoscales affects the behavior of polymers, proteins, and enzymes. I also developed the first kinetic Monte Carlo model for simulating cellulose decomposition by cellulase enzymes. This strategy is being harnessed to produce renewable biofuels. Via a simulation method that tracks the individual locations of all enzymes in the reaction system, I developed design rules to help experimentalists engineer more effective enzymes. From August 2009 to May 2013 (3 years 10 months) Berkeley, CAUndergraduate Researcher @ I developed the first molecular model for commercially important detergent molecule. This work was published in Journal of Physical Chemistry B and received over 30 citations within 4 years. I also currently a reviewer for Journal of Physical Chemistry B. From August 2005 to May 2009 (3 years 10 months) Nanomaterials Intern @ I developed a novel explanation for certain surface behaviors of nanoparticles and presented this research to leading MIT investigators in materials science. From June 2008 to August 2008 (3 months) Computational Fluid Dynamics Intern @ I performed computational fluid dynamics simulations of jet aircraft engines. I also wrote scripts to automate analyses and reporting using Perl. From May 2006 to September 2006 (5 months) Ph.D., Chemical Engineering @ University of California, Berkeley From 2009 to 2013 BSE, Chemical Engineering @ University of Michigan From 2005 to 2009 Barry Shang is skilled in: ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Web API, AngularJS, SQL, C#, .NET, R, Python, JavaScript, HTML5, Fortran, Machine Learning, Gradient Boosting..., Random Forests, Monte Carlo Simulation, Predictive Modeling, Computer Simulation, Decision Tree Learning, Logistic regression, Bayesian statistics, Hidden Markov Models, Optimization, Stochastic Processes, Statistical Modeling, Time Series Analysis, Computational Fluid..., Molecular Modeling, Complex Fluids, Matlab
