Currently focused on modifying consumer oriented technology and business models to address challenges in the oil and gas industry. The consumer space has a lot to teach enterprise...I think the next few years will bring significant changes in how exploration and production is approached. I'm excited to be part of that change. Currently in development of our core services. From April 2010 to Present (5 years 9 months) Board Member @ From August 2013 to October 2014 (1 year 3 months) Founder / CEO @ PetroQuick is a provider of oil and gas software applications. The core product was an economic forecasting and evaluation tool to review drilling and acquisition opportunities. I developed the application for in-house use due to the over complexity and cost of existing options. After several requests to purchase it I started selling it. I spent the next two years with senior decision makers of E&Ps across the industry learning first hand the challenges they face. The result was a unique perspective of technology and business challenges throughout the industry. --- PetroQuick was small but profitable. I eventually used the re-occurring revenue to fund LifeSocket - an experiment in community communication and engagement From January 2005 to July 2010 (5 years 7 months) Founder / Creative Director @ LifeSocket was a failed but valuable experimental approach to community communication and engagement. The concept was based on how social networks represent people and their relationships digitally then use the relationships to manage communication and data streaming. In our system we were representing other entities digitally and mapping the relationships to enable "other" kinds of communication. Our network nodes were people, homes, neighbourhoods, municipalities, roads and so on. Users would register and create a relationship to a home to give them basic communication rights in the system (Based on the home's chain of relationships - home->block->neighbourhood->municipality->etc). One example use of the relationships that I was interested in was the ability to vote on issues and weight participation based on their relationship to the issue. For example a stop sign at the end of a street. The more closely the voter to the issue (do they live on the block? in the niehgbourhood? in the city?) then they have increased weight without disclosing their identity. Using feeds and profiles made for simple and engaging monitoring, research and discovery. From August 2007 to November 2009 (2 years 4 months) Project Analyst @ K-Town Holdings was an Oil and Gas exploration and production company wholly owned by my father. His desire was for one of the kids to take over the company. I worked for the company in the field from the age of 13. When I was 18 I was put in strategic learning positions in the office. I went to night courses and classes to back up my day time roles that ranged from account to production accounting to geology to engineering. While in the engineering position I created PetroQuick's economics application and left to pursue that as my first real business. --- K-Town gave me a unique perspective of E&P challenges from top to bottom. This came both from my own work experience but also from my relationship with my father and seeing his challenges first hand.
