In her previous 12-year career life in IBM, Gill has been instrumental in decision-making and execution of IBM’s business strategies behind major business moves including Lenovo's acquisition of IBM's PC Division in 2005, launch of IBM Smarter Planet and Smarter Cities since 2009, and IBM's Centennial in 2011, resulting in lasting impact across the Greater China region. Gill sets the example for woman business executive in the corporate world. Prior to joining IBM, Gill worked in Motorola China and later on Motorola Asia Pacific for eight years. In 2000, she was awarded the “Woman Star of Motorola” Golden Award for her contributions in making the company a top 10 brand in China. In 2004, Gill was named one of the top ten women in China’s IT industry in a program jointly organized by All China Women’s Federation, Ministry of Information Industry and China Computer World. The same year, Gill was voted one of the Top 50 most influential women in China by Trends magazine. In 2012, Advertising Age recognized Gill Zhou in its first China’s Women to Watch awards. The recognition cites Gill as being a role model for Chinese women in business, as evidenced by her over one million followers on Chinese microblogging service Sina Weibo. In 2013, Gill Zhou was awarded the title of “Top 10 Brand Women in China” by the Brand China Industry Union (BCIU). During the 2013 Most Influential Business Women in China campaign jointly launched by China Entrepreneur and Sina.com, Gill Zhou gained unanimous approval from the committee to be one of China’s thirty outstanding professional women for the third time since 2011. Ms. Zhou published her own book “Bloom” at the end of 2012. Just months after its publication, “Bloom” became a bestseller among new career books on Dangdang.com. Gill is also a member of I&VT, the IBM Integration and Values Team with 300 select IBM top executives.
