Tanja Ploetz

Tanja Ploetz currently serves as Senior Advisor for Sustainable Food Systems at WWF Germany, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the organization’s strategic initiatives aimed at transforming global and national food systems. In her capacity, she oversees the international programme "Future Food Together," which focuses on promoting sustainable consumption and production (SCP) within the agri-food sector. Her work involves developing innovative strategies to foster responsible sourcing, reduce environmental impacts, and enhance the resilience of food supply chains. Tanja’s expertise in sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and strategic planning enables her to effectively align WWF’s conservation goals with the broader objectives of sustainable development.

A key aspect of her role involves engaging with diverse stakeholders—including policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society—to advocate for policy reforms and industry commitments that support sustainable food systems. Her intercultural skills and international experience, particularly her background in Chinese language and business economics, allow her to facilitate cross-cultural dialogue and foster global partnerships. Tanja’s deep understanding of environmental education and her strategic approach to programme management contribute to the successful implementation of projects that aim to influence consumer behavior, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and support the transition towards more resilient and environmentally responsible food systems. Through her leadership, WWF Germany continues to be at the forefront of food system transformation, leveraging her expertise to drive impactful change in the pursuit of a more sustainable and equitable future for food production and consumption worldwide.
