Rob Kselik

Rob Kselik currently serves as a Land and Water Management Specialist at Alterra, Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands, where he leverages his extensive expertise in hydrology and sustainable water management to address complex environmental challenges. In his role, Rob is deeply involved in developing innovative solutions for integrated water resource management, with a particular focus on optimizing crop water requirements, improving water balance assessments, and establishing effective drainage criteria. His work often emphasizes the importance of understanding the hydrology of tropical peatlands and acid sulphate soils, which are critical to maintaining ecosystem health and agricultural productivity in vulnerable regions.

Rob's key projects span a diverse geographic scope, including research initiatives in Vietnam, Malaysia, India, and across the European Union. These projects aim to enhance water management practices in agricultural landscapes, mitigate salinity issues, and adapt to the impacts of climate change. His expertise in computer modeling and programming enables him to develop sophisticated hydrological models that inform sustainable land use planning and environmental policy. As a senior researcher, Rob also contributes to capacity building through training courses both domestically and internationally, sharing knowledge on groundwater modeling, water quality, and ecosystem services.

His multidisciplinary approach integrates environmental policy, natural resource management, and climate adaptation strategies, making him a valuable asset in advancing sustainable water management solutions. Rob’s work not only supports the development of resilient agricultural systems but also promotes the conservation of vital water resources, ensuring their sustainable use for future generations.
