Philip Teas

Philip Teas is a seasoned Geologist and Partner at ONE, where he leverages his extensive expertise in marine geology and geophysical data interpretation to advance offshore exploration and infrastructure development. In his current role, Philip spearheads innovative projects focused on seafloor mapping and core acquisition across diverse global regions, with a particular emphasis on identifying hydrocarbon seeps, assessing seafloor stability, and optimizing pipeline and cable route planning. His work integrates high-resolution multibeam echosounder (MBES) surveys and seismic datasets to generate detailed seafloor characterizations, enabling clients to make informed decisions in complex marine environments.

Drawing from his foundational experience with industry giants like Unocal and Chevron, Philip co-founded Black Gold Energy, where he pioneered approaches to seafloor mapping and shallow hazard analysis in Indonesia. This entrepreneurial venture laid the groundwork for his current global initiatives, aiming to map the world's oceans from 500m to 5000m depths. His expertise encompasses regional geology, submarine geomorphology, fluid pressure estimation, and fracture gradient analysis—skills critical for understanding subsurface conditions and mitigating exploration risks.

At ONE, Philip’s leadership involves developing comprehensive datasets that support upstream petroleum exploration, offshore infrastructure planning, and environmental assessments. His ability to integrate seafloor geology with seismic interpretation and earth science principles ensures a holistic approach to marine resource development. With a focus on advancing marine geoscience, Philip continues to push the boundaries of seafloor mapping technology, contributing valuable insights to the oil & energy industry and fostering sustainable offshore operations worldwide.
