Peter Stokes

Peter A. Stokes currently serves as the Director of CFI Projects at CMC Microsystems, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing Canada's research infrastructure through strategic project management and collaborative partnerships. In this capacity, Peter leverages his extensive expertise in research support, innovation ecosystems, and technology commercialization to oversee the successful execution of high-impact projects funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI). His leadership ensures that these initiatives align with national priorities, foster cutting-edge research, and facilitate the development of advanced microelectronics and photonics technologies.

With over 35 years of experience supporting research and innovation across Canada, Peter brings a comprehensive understanding of the complex landscape of academic-industry partnerships, government funding programs, and technology transfer. His previous roles at CMC Microsystems—ranging from Senior Manager of Engineering Operations to Project Manager for a $39 million System-on-Chip Research Network—have provided him with deep insights into semiconductor operations, engineering applications, and large-scale project management. These experiences have honed his skills in proposal development, budgeting, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement.

In his current role, Peter is instrumental in fostering collaborative partnerships with universities, industry partners, and government agencies to accelerate the development and deployment of innovative microfabrication and integrated circuit technologies. His expertise in partner development, supplier negotiation, and strategic planning ensures that CMC Microsystems remains at the forefront of supporting research excellence and commercialization.
