Kit Houston

Kit Houston, currently serving as the Director of Fire at Houston's Barbecue, brings a dynamic blend of operational expertise and culinary passion to the vibrant world of Texas-inspired American barbecue. In this role, Kit oversees the day-to-day management of the mobile food truck and pop-up restaurant, ensuring seamless operations, exceptional customer experiences, and the consistent delivery of authentic flavors. His leadership extends beyond the kitchen, leveraging strategic planning and team management skills honed over nearly two decades in IT operations, including hardware support, Microsoft Exchange, Windows Server, and Citrix environments.

At Houston's Barbecue, Kit's technical background uniquely positions him to optimize operational workflows, implement innovative solutions for inventory management, and enhance digital marketing strategies—particularly through social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. His expertise in negotiation and business development has been instrumental in forging partnerships, expanding the brand's reach, and navigating the competitive food truck industry.

Despite the widespread dissatisfaction with traditional jobs—as highlighted by Deloitte’s Shift Index survey—Kit’s transition from IT to the culinary scene exemplifies a commitment to pursuing passion and purpose. His leadership fosters a collaborative environment, inspiring his team to deliver top-tier barbecue while embracing the agility required in the mobile food industry. With a strategic focus on operational excellence and customer engagement, Kit Houston continues to elevate Houston's Barbecue as a must-visit destination for barbecue enthusiasts seeking authentic flavors and memorable experiences.
