Jan Demaa

Jan De Maa currently serves as the Team Manager for the Wholesale Gas Market at The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Dutch and European gas sectors. In this capacity, Jan oversees the regulation and supervision of the wholesale gas market, ensuring its efficient functioning, transparency, and integration within the broader European energy landscape. His leadership involves managing key projects related to setting allowed income and tariffs for the Transmission System Operator (TSO), which is critical for maintaining fair access and sustainable market operations. Jan’s expertise in European law and competition law is instrumental in implementing harmonized regulations aligned with EU directives, fostering market integration and ensuring a level playing field for market participants.

A significant focus of Jan’s work involves advising on the swift and responsible reduction of Groningen Gas production, balancing economic, environmental, and energy security considerations.
