Edwin Wagelaar is a seasoned Information Specialist at GD (De Gezondheidsdienst voor Dieren), where he plays a pivotal role in managing and optimizing data flows across the organization. With a robust background rooted in microbiology, initially focusing on virology and immunology, Edwin transitioned into the IT domain in 2008, bringing a unique scientific perspective to data management and information facilitation. Since joining GD in 2013, he has become a key driver in leveraging data to support animal health and welfare initiatives.

In his current role, Edwin specializes in integrating diverse data sources, primarily SQL databases, to facilitate seamless access to critical information for various departments. His expertise extends to data modeling, including the development of data warehouses that enable advanced analytics and reporting. By utilizing a broad toolkit—ranging from Excel and Business Objects to QlikView—he ensures that complex data is transformed into actionable insights, supporting decision-making processes within the organization.
