Dickson Baan

Dickson Baan currently serves as a Standards and Assurance Officer at Rainforest Alliance, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing sustainable agriculture practices across West Africa. In this capacity, he oversees the license review and approval process for UTZ/RA Code of Conduct and Chain of Custody operators involved in cocoa and coffee supply chains, ensuring compliance with rigorous environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. His expertise in certification processes, combined with his deep understanding of agricultural value chains, enables him to execute thorough quality checks on audit reports, thereby maintaining the integrity and credibility of Rainforest Alliance’s sustainability programs.

With a background rooted in agriculture, plant pathology, and crop protection, Dickson brings a comprehensive perspective to his work, integrating technical knowledge with capacity-building initiatives. He collaborates closely with certification bodies, providing guidance on best practices in sustainable farming, agrochemical use, and production chain management. His experience as a researcher and consultant allows him to identify innovative solutions for improving compliance and enhancing the sustainability of farming operations.

In his current role, Dickson is also involved in capacity-building and training activities aimed at empowering local farmers and supply chain actors with the skills needed for sustainable production and certification.
