Declan Kirk

As a Lifeguard at Essex County Club, I have gained valuable hands-on experience in ensuring the safety and well-being of club members and guests while maintaining a secure aquatic environment. My current role involves not only monitoring pool activities but also actively engaging in safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and water safety training. I take pride in my ability to remain vigilant and responsive, utilizing skills in CPR, lifesaving techniques, and first aid to handle any incidents swiftly and effectively.

Beyond the immediate safety responsibilities, I serve as a key communication link between families, club members, and upper management. This involves coordinating with staff to organize daily pool operations, managing schedules, and logging payments to ensure seamless service delivery. My role requires strong leadership and teamwork, as I collaborate with fellow lifeguards and staff to uphold the club’s high standards of safety, customer service, and environmental awareness.

My experience at Essex County Club has also enhanced my organizational and time management skills, as I balance multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Working in this setting has deepened my understanding of operational logistics, client relations, and the importance of proactive communication—skills that are directly transferable to my academic pursuits in economics and business. Overall, my role as a Lifeguard has not only strengthened my technical safety skills but also cultivated my leadership abilities, customer service expertise, and capacity to work effectively under pressure, all of which contribute to my professional growth and future career aspirations in management, finance, or real estate.
