WXYZ Channel 7 Action News is owned and operated by The E.W. Scripps Company and serves as Detroit's ABC affiliate station. Broadcasting nearly 60 hours of news programming each week, we are dedicated to providing our viewers with the information they need to take action in their daily lives. Our passionate, award-winning staff uphold the highest standards of journalism while fighting for truth and accountability throughout the local communities. We take a personal stake in the success of our community and viewers regularly find members of our 7 Action News team in their neighborhoods and communities.

We serve our community through our Community Action Team and our Call for Action consumer team. We also produce Detroit2020, which is our initiative to unify and inspire change, and make Detroit a better place to live, work, and raise families.

Detroit is home to several major corporations including 3 Fortune 500 companies. The most significant companies include: General Motors, Quicken Loans, Little Caesars and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

Detroit's theater district is the second largest in the country, second only to New York City.

Detroit is home to four professional sports teams: The Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Lions, the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Pistons.

Many of the city's prominent museums are located in the historic cultural center neighborhood around Wayne State University.

Other Detroit attractions include the Detroit Zoo and Hitsville USA, the first headquarters of Motown records.
