WRIQ is Queensland’s waste and recycling industry association representing the operators of the sector delivering high quality, safe and sustainable services to government, business and the general public. WRIQ members provide an essential community service for all Queenslanders in the responsible handling, safe removal, processing, treatment and disposal of all wastes, including solid, liquid, regulated and hazardous materials. WRIQ members recover and recycle important secondary resources and locally manufacture products from these resources. WRIQ members in 2017 employed more than 6,500 Queenslanders across all discipline areas and directly created over 5,300 jobs in supporting industries. The industry has more than $2 billion dollars of assets invested and under management in Queensland, and contributes more than $1.5 billion to the state's economy annually. WRIQ promotes thought leadership, services and education to all its stakeholders, advocating industry issues with purpose and focus for achieving social, environmental and economically sustainable outcomes.
